New version of the platform for launching games - Ubuntu Game*Pack 24.04

Ubuntu Game*Pack 24.04 distribution is available for download - an operating system that includes tools and means for guaranteed launch of more than 100 thousand games, both specially developed for Linux and developed for Windows, DOS, various game consoles Sega, Nintendo, PSP, Sony PlayStation, ZX Spectrum and many others.

The new version contains a number of key improvements that make this operating system even more productive for gaming:

  • Linux kernel 6.14 - provides a noticeable performance boost and reduced latency for games. This is especially noticeable in resource-intensive games and when running applications via WINE. Your favorite games will become even more responsive and smooth.
  • Mesa 25 - guarantees improved optimization for modern AMD, NVIDIA and Intel graphics cards, higher frame rates, improved visual quality, smooth rendering and compatibility with the latest graphics technologies. And optimizations for OpenGL and Vulkan make the gaming process even more exciting.
  • WineHQ Staging 10.14 - has additional advanced features for improved compatibility and increased stability, which will allow you to "squeeze the maximum" out of the system.

The system already has the following tools installed:

  • Steam, Lutris, Itch, Game Jolt - game management and delivery systems;
  • PlayOnLinux and CrossOver Linux - launching games developed for the Windows platform;
  • ScummVM - a program for launching classic adventure and role-playing games;
  • DOSBox - launch of old games developed for the DOS platform;
  • PortProton – easy and convenient launch of Windows games with the possibility of flexible settings for advanced users;
  • OpenWebStart - launching Java applications and games via JNLP files (Java Web Start)
  • GameMode - optimizer to improve game performance;
  • volt-gui - system performance optimization utility (GPU, CPU, disk, kernel) for running games or applications.

And also the latest version of WINE and utilities for its convenient configuration:

  • Winetricks - installation of various libraries, components, fonts and system settings for WINE;
  • DXVK - libraries to support Direct3D 8, 9, 10, 11;
  • WINE Launcher - launching games in various containers;
  • q4wine - WINE configuration and optimization utility.

The distribution is already connected to the repositories / UALinux, SNAP, Flatpak / which contain a large collection of games of various genres for Linux.

What's new compared to the previous build based on 22.04:

  • the distribution is built on the Ubuntu*Pack 24.04 (Like Win), code base, which by default offers an appearance in the style of the Windows 10 interface;
  • includes all updates up to September 2025;
  • Linux system kernel 6.14;
  • added openwebstart;
  • added volt-gui.
